Fredrick Oundo was handed the sentence by Chief Magistrate Bernard Ochoi, who ruled that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) had proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.

A 28-year-old teacher from Kawangware has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Milimani Children’s Court after being found guilty of defiling a 16-year-old boy under the guise of helping him secure a scholarship.

In a statement by the ODPP on Friday, November 7, 2025, Fredrick Oundo was handed the sentence by Chief Magistrate Bernard Ochoi, who ruled that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) had proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.

According to court testimony, Oundo deceived the victim with promises of educational support before initiating an inappropriate relationship. The boy told the court that the teacher referred to him as his “wife,” revealing a disturbing level of manipulation and abuse of power.

In addition to the defilement charge, Oundo was also convicted of compelling an indecent act with a child after evidence showed he forced the boy to perform sexual acts on him.

This revelation painted a picture of systematic grooming and abuse, shattering the young victim's sense of safety in what should have been a supportive environment.

In his judgment, Chief Magistrate Ochoi condemned the act as a “grave abuse of trust,” stressing that teachers, as custodians of children’s welfare, must uphold the highest moral and professional standards.

“This was a betrayal of both the child and the community’s faith in educators,” the court observed.

The prosecution team, led by Linda Ndambiri and Grace Musambi, presented compelling evidence that secured the conviction, including the victim’s detailed testimony and corroborating evidence.

The verdict has been welcomed by child protection advocates, who say it sends a strong message against sexual exploitation by people in positions of authority.
